First day of school for Grade Ones

It is a long standing Michael Mount tradition to welcome the Grade One children into “big” school with the Rose Ceremony. At this ceremony each Grade One child is led into the first assembly of the year by a Grade 8 pupil who are themselves making the transition into High School. At the assembly, in front of the whole school and parents, the new children are presented with a rose by a matric pupil. The Grade 12s are at the end of their journey through school while the new Grade Ones are just beginning that journey.
